Once you have chosen a bank, call them or go to the office to make an appointment. You will need an ID, study confirmation from your university and complete some papers.
This is accurate if you want to make a student bank account. This kind of bank account is usually free (if you don’t want a credit card).
Where I live there are 3 bank offices: Nordea, Jysk Bank and Danske Bank. You should choose the one that is the most convenient for you.

- What can other students from my university advise?
- Are there any fees?

Once you have done your bank account, you should wait around 1 to 2 weeks before you get your debit or credit card.
Mobile Pay
Here we use a lot (really a lot) Mobile Pay. It is a Scandinavian version of PayPal. You can use it to pay for your lunch, swimming pool tickets and almost everything.
You can find the app on your device’s App Store by searching its name. To make an account select “Ny bruger” and complete the steps:
- Name
- CPR number
- Bank account number
